Get your thinking socks on
By Clare Norris, Account Director, Supafrank
At the end of last year we were lucky enough to work with Philosophy at Work on their New Year’s gift. Thinking socks to help your feet stay cosy on the ground and your mind soar to new heights.
Now, it’s the beginning of January, I have just opened my pair of yellow toed beauties and have been inspired to think about the year ahead.
You know what thought did (something my dad would say), but now I think I understand why:
“Watch your thoughts, they become your words; watch your words, they become your actions“
Loa Tzu
You would expect working with philosophers to be inspiring and thought provoking (which it is) but over the years I have started to feel it has a more essential or vital place in my life. I feel amazingly grateful to work with Brennan and his team for an ever-thoughtful influence – to bring meaning and delight to the greyest winter day.
Inspired by the big thinkers, I try to channel a philosophical approach, to adopt curiosity even when things feel blocked, difficult or squashed. To take a moment to find another perspective, to root out a creative solution, to find what ignites a spark that can bring a project or situation to life.
Some may consider a bit of thinking space a luxury for those with time but really, it is the only way to get the real work done. We can always busy our way through another year but what if we took a moment to see if we could make our impact a little more positive or interesting for ourselves, our communities, our workplaces or our planet?
What can we bring to this new year? How can we make it special? What mark are we going to leave?
It all starts with a passing thought – make sure you catch it, you never know where it could take you.
